German or Moravian Stars – the now finished project

2009-07-08 Stars

About 300 stars now have hanging strings attached and have been dipped, one by one, in paraffin. The wax gives them weight and a luminous quality AND deepens the color of the paper.  The pale pink and the magazine cover ones are plain paper.

My themes are a Christmas red and white combination.  Glowing yellow or simple white. Pale pink for special ladies. Gold for a deeper statement. Mardi Gras purple, gold and green combo. LSU purple and gold combo. Halloween orange. Deep purple. And, the very special New Yorker magazine cover recycled for the literary peeps among us!

These are packaged in multiples and available for purchase for $1-$2 each depending on the size. I also have strips with a link for instructions if you want to make your own. (Just let me know). It’s a great project and one that can be done with older children. Dipping is not required and often glitter is added by those with lots of patience to apply the glue and then sprinkle.  For online instructions, visit these wonderful folks, High Hopes!

I'm impressed up, down and sideways! They are beautiful... but just the thought of dipping and packaging that lot... that is TRUE dedication!

I'm stunned.

I love your store and your blog! And...you giveaway such beautiful items! I'd use today's giveaway as a sash for one of my cloth dolls.
